We\u2019re excited to introduce three of our new team members! These passionate individuals have dedicated a year of service through Habitat AmeriCorps to help build a better future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amber Thorp<\/strong> joins us for her second AmeriCorps term. She served with the Montana Conservation Corps last year and was inspired by the dedicated people she met. Now she\u2019s back to help her home state of Oregon and hoping to increase donations to our ReStores as Outreach and Engagement Coordinator. Amber says, \u201cLack of affordable housing is becoming an increasingly severe problem. I feel honored that I have the opportunity to serve with Habitat and make a difference locally.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Divaa-elon Charles<\/strong> previously participated in the Northwest Youth Corps, where she learned how to restore the natural environment of various project sites. With a knack for fixing things, Divaa-elon will work as the Home Repair Crew Lead and is on her way to becoming a \u201cjack-of-all-trades.\u201d She\u2019s already done everything from repairing drywall to helping with a trauma-informed design for a playhouse. Her advice for anyone considering a role with Habitat AmeriCorps: \u201cIf you have the determination and willingness to try something (new), then go for it!\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam Casey<\/strong> comes to us with a love of woodworking and some experience in remodeling. Serving as New Construction Crew Leader at Century Commons, Liam is looking forward to gaining practical skills while supporting Habitat\u2019s mission. He works with volunteers to explain tasks and train them on tools and construction techniques. Liam shares, \u201cI really enjoyed putting up a big 40-foot wall with a group of volunteers.\u201d (You can see video of that wall raising here<\/a> on our Facebook page, where it has more than 1.6 million views). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Habitat AmeriCorps?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Habitat AmeriCorps is part of a growing national service movement that places members in communities to address pressing needs. AmeriCorps members serve 10.5 to 12 months, either in the field or office, contributing to home construction, repairs, and community engagement. Through this program, they gain invaluable experience and build lifelong skills, helping both individuals and communities thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
